Selling VoiceMap Tours as a Travel Agent
6 min readTravel agents are a natural fit for VoiceMap. If you're already building itineraries for clients, adding a self-guided audio tour is a small step that meaningfully improves the experience — and the affiliate program means you earn commission when you do.
VoiceMap is particularly well suited to gaps in a travel day: clients who can't check in yet and have time to fill before their accommodation is ready, or time between excursions and want to make the most of a destination rather than wait. A VoiceMap tour fills that time with something genuinely worthwhile.
This page explains how to join the affiliate program as a travel agent and how to purchase group tours on behalf of clients once you're set up.
Why VoiceMap works well for travel agents
VoiceMap tours are self-guided and work offline, which makes them easy to include in any itinerary without adding logistical complexity. There's no guide to coordinate, no fixed start time, and no minimum group size. Your clients explore at their own pace using the VoiceMap app, which narrates the tour automatically as they move through each location.
A few things that make VoiceMap a practical addition to a travel package:
- Works offline — tours download to the device in advance, so there's no need for data or a local SIM while out exploring
- Self-paced — clients can pause and revisit locations at their own pace
- No coordination required — each person (or couple, or family) uses their own device, so a group of 20 doesn't need to stay together
- Affordable — tours are priced for individual purchase, which keeps the add-on cost low even for larger groups. Additionally, group bookings receive a discount that is automatically applied at checkout
- High quality — our tours are written and recorded by local experts: historians, journalists, architects, and podcasters who know their subject
Joining the affiliate program
VoiceMap's affiliate program is managed through Awin, a global affiliate network. As an affiliate, you earn commission on every tour purchase made through your unique tracking links.
Steps to join
- Go to awin.com and create an account if you don't already have one
- Once logged in, search for VoiceMap in the advertiser directory
- Apply to join the VoiceMap affiliate program
- Wait for approval — you'll receive a confirmation from Awin once you're accepted
- After approval, log in to your Awin dashboard to access your tracking links and promotional materials
Using your affiliate links
Once you're approved, you can generate a unique tracking link for any VoiceMap tour. When a client purchases a tour through your link, the sale is attributed to you and you earn commission.
You can share affiliate links:
- In itinerary documents you send to clients
- In email recommendations before or during a trip
- On your agency's website or blog, if you publish travel content
- In a WhatsApp group or messaging thread for a specific group trip
You don't need to link to a specific tour. You can also link to VoiceMap's homepage or to a destination page, and any purchase a client makes within the Awin attribution window will count toward your commission.
Dynamic affiliate links — In addition to Awin-generated links, VoiceMap can create dynamic affiliate links for you. These work the same way for tracking and commission purposes but give you more flexibility in how you share them. Contact [email protected] to request a dynamic link for a specific tour or destination.
You can buy multiple copies of any VoiceMap tour at once directly on behalf of your clients, and still earn commission. Group bookings receive a discount that is automatically applied at checkout — the larger the group, the bigger the discount.
Earning commission on group purchases
To make sure your commission is tracked, use your affiliate link when navigating to the tour page before completing the group purchase. This works the same way as a standard affiliate sale — once you've clicked through your link, the purchase is attributed to you within the Awin attribution window.
How to purchase
- Navigate to the tour via your affiliate link or on voicemap.me
- Click Buy for a Group
- Enter the number of people in your group — the discount is applied automatically
- Select that you are not a member of the group
- Click Proceed to Payment and complete checkout
- You'll receive an email with a single code and instructions that can be forwarded to the group.
Distributing tours to your group
After checkout you'll receive a redemption code and instructions to forward to your clients. There are two ways they can use the code.
Redemption link — The easiest option for most groups. The link opens the VoiceMap app (or the App Store / Google Play if the app isn't installed yet) and applies the code automatically.
Manual code entry — Clients can also enter the code manually in the VoiceMap app: open the app, tap the menu, select Redeem a code, and enter the code.
Practical tips for distribution
- Send the code a few days before the trip so clients have time to download the app and redeem their tour before they travel
- Include brief instructions alongside the code — or simply share the redemption link and let it do the work
- For groups travelling together, the single shared code covers everyone
Encourage your clients to download the tour while they're on Wi-Fi before they leave for the destination. Tours work offline once downloaded, so there's no risk of connectivity issues during the experience.
- Check the tour length before you book — VoiceMap tours vary in length from under an hour to several hours. Check the tour page for an estimated duration and distance so you can fit it into the day appropriately.
- Not all tours require walking — Some tours are designed for cycling or driving. Make sure the transport type matches your group's itinerary.
- Multiple tours, one city — Many destinations have several VoiceMap tours. You can purchase group copies of more than one tour, which works well for longer trips or when different clients want to explore different neighbourhoods.
