What is VoiceMap’s ‘reseller network’? #
VoiceMap works with other online websites to distribute tours. We add new products to the reseller listings, adding information about the tours and their pricing and availability. Bookings made through the reseller listings automatically receive a voucher from us and we provide any required support to people who purchase the tours.
Adding your tour to our reseller network is a great way to grow your audience and increase sales. However, we can only list paid tours that have already been published. We’d love to list free tours, but for now, our primary reseller network—made up of TripAdvisor and Viator—does not allow this.
Here is a list of the resellers VoiceMap works with:
- Viator (primary reseller, owned by TripAdvisor)
- Musement (extended reseller)
- Klook (extended reseller)
- Duve (extended reseller)
- TourDesk (extended reseller)
- CityFans (extended reseller)
- Sightseeingo (extended reseller)
- ProjectExpedition (extended reseller)
Can you add my VoiceMap tour to TripAdvisor? #
The simple answer is yes! It’s better if we add the tour on TripAdvisor on your behalf because we can automatically provide vouchers for people wanting to do the tour.
How does it work?
Tripadvisor owns Viator, and when we list your tour there, it is also sold through their network of partners, which includes Lonely Planet and Groupon.
Viator charges a $29 listing fee for new products. This fee is built into the cost of our Growth, Priority, Pro and Premium plans, so if you’re on one of these plans, we’ll list your tours at no extra cost to you. Because we are adding more and more tours to Viator every day, we need to prioritise listings for our publishers on our Priority, Pro, and Premium plans. For publishers on our Basic Plan, we will list your tours for $29 each.
If you’d like us to add your tour to our reseller network, please contact one of our Account Managers at [email protected], and they’ll guide you through the process.
Once your tour is live, they’ll send you a link so you can review your product’s page and let us know if you’d like us to make any changes.
Royalties and reports #
You’ll see the sales made through our reseller network on your dashboard’s breakdown of downloads, listed under ‘Reseller Sales’.Any royalties you earn this way are calculated the same way as they are through other channels, i.e. with transaction costs and variable OTA commission deducted first, and the royalty % then calculated according to your VoiceMap plan.
The importance of positive reviews #
Tours with positive reviews perform significantly better on all resellers. It’s easy to understand why: testimonials from happy customers help to convince new customers, and when you look at the lists of tours in a destination or linked to a specific attraction, you’ll see that they almost always have at least some reviews. Viator even has a special “Badge of Excellence” category for tours with at least 15 reviews and an average rating above 4.5 out of 5 stars.
We’ve seen tours go from barely any sales to blockbusters based on reseller reviews, but you have to approach these with care and integrity because products with fake or spammy reviews will be permanently removed. Reviewers don’t actually have to buy your tour through Tripadvisor to review it there. It’s still important that they actually experience the tour – and then review it honestly. TripAdvisor’s policy is as follows:
I certify that this review is based on my own experience and is my genuine opinion of this establishment and that I have no personal or business relationship with this establishment, and have not been offered any incentive or payment originating from the establishment to write this review. I understand that Tripadvisor has a zero-tolerance policy on fake reviews.
To assist others in sharing their TripAdvisor reviews, here are step-by-step instructions on how to leave a review: leave a review on TripAdvisor:
- Find the tour on Tripadvisor, once it is listed there
- Scroll down to the Reviews section near the bottom of the page and click on “Write a review”
- Complete all the required fields.
- Confirm that you’ve actually done the tour and your review is genuine
- Click on “Submit your review”
