VoiceMap uses Awin, a leading global affiliate network, to promote our tours.

What is an affiliate? #

An affiliate is someone who promotes a product, service or experience in exchange for a commission on any sales made as a result of their referrals. Special links are used to track sales and bookings made that originated from an affiliate’s promotional page. In the case of VoiceMap, affiliates would earn commission on tour purchases that are generated through their promotional content.

For Affiliate Partners #

VoiceMap is an app for GPS-guided audio tours created by local storytellers – historians, journalists, architects, and podcasters – who reveal the local secrets and hidden stories behind destinations. We have over 1,800 tours across 75 countries with an average rating of 4.6/5 from over 65,000 ratings. Our self-paced tours work offline, giving users the flexibility to explore on their own terms. Some of their favourite VoiceMap tours include a podcaster’s guide to Paris’ neighbourhoods, a teacher and tour guide’s introduction to Bruges’ legends, and deep dives into the Bay Area’s districts with San Francisco Chronicle’s journalists.

This program is ideal for those who have:

How it works #

Getting started #

If you’re already an Awin member, you can send us:

  • Your merchant profile link
  • A description of your platform, audience, and traffic
  • How you plan to feature VoiceMap on your platform

A $1 signup fee (refundable after approval) applies. Awin will review your application and notify you of approval within 3-5 business days. Once approved, send us:

  • Your merchant profile link
  • A description of your platform, audience, and traffic
  • How you plan to feature VoiceMap on your platform

Commission structure #

You’ll receive a dedicated affiliate link that you can use anywhere (mobile/web). You’ll earn commission on all in-app/web purchases generated through the link. The cookie attribution period is 30 days, so attribution isn’t only for purchases made immediately, but for a 30-day period linked to the user’s cookies.

You’ll also have access to our library of tours and marketing creatives.

Best practices for promotion #

  • Integrate tour recommendations naturally into your existing content
  • Share personal experiences and insights about destinations
  • Highlight unique aspects of specific tours that align with your audience’s interests

For VoiceMap Tour Publishers #

As a local expert and VoiceMap publisher, you know your destination best, so we’d like your help connecting to the right affiliate partners. Think about who are the influential voices, popular bloggers, or trusted local websites in your city. If you have a few in mind, please share them with us.

Here are some examples of the types of affiliate partners we’re looking for:

  • Travel and history bloggers. These could be writers who create destination guides, travel content, or provide historical insight into a destination.
  • Local lifestyle websites. City guides are one example, as are “what’s on” sites and local magazines.
  • Tourism boards and visitor centres. Official destination marketing organizations are well positioned to refer visitors to your tour, but generally need a local publisher to explain the product to them.
  • Nano and micro-influencers. These are social media creators with engaged local followings of between 1,000 and 50,000.
  • Hotels and accommodation providers. Properties with websites and a concierge desk that are already recommending local activities to guests.
  • Expat community groups and websites.

In some cases, it’s enough to just send an email to [email protected] with links to their website or social media pages. We’ll get in touch. In other cases, it helps to have a local explain VoiceMap and sell your tour specifically before making an introduction to our team.
